After 3 years, a numbered Xiaomi Pro model releases globaly

Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro will launch globally later this year. This ends a three-generation run of numbered Pro models that were only available in China. The last Pro model to get a global release was the Xiaomi 13 Pro in 2023.

The Xiaomi 18 series launches in China today, September 23, at 7:00 PM Beijing time and Xiaomi has confirmed that the 18 Pro will also launch globally before the end of the year, but has not shared an exact date yet.

The company has also not confirmed which countries will get the phone or how much it will cost outside China. One industry tracker claims the Xiaomi 18 Pro could launch in Japan, Russia, Taiwan, Turkey, and some European cuntries. However, Xiaomi has not confirmed this list, and the United States is not included in the report.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro will also be the first smartphone to use Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip and it uses a 2nm manufacturing process.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max both use a dual 200MP Leica camera setup. This includes a 200MP main camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera.

The two phones have different battery capacities. The Xiaomi 18 Pro comes with a 7,000mAh battery, while the Pro Max increases this to 8,500mAh.

Xiaomi is also bringing back the secondary display on the rear of the phone. The company first introduced this feature with the Xiaomi 17 Pro last year. Both models also have an ultra-narrow bezel design.

Global pricing has not been confirmed yet. Current industry estimates put the price somewhere between $1,249 and $1,499, depending on the model. These are only estimates, however. Xiaomi's president has already confirmed that the new phones will cost more than last year's models, but did not provide exact prices.
