The RedMagic 12 Pro+ is getting closer to its official launch, and reservations are now open in China. Buyers can reserve the new gaming phone through the RedMagic website and JD.com, ahead of the October 15 launch.
RedMagic has not announced the final price yet. The company will officially introduce the phone on October 15 at 2:30 PM in China, so we should not have to wait much longer for the full details.

Snapdragon power with a new design

The RedMagic 12 Pro+ will use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. A recent Geekbench 7 test gave the phone 3,677 points in single-core and 12,679 points in multi-core.
Those are the highest scores seen so far from a phone using this chip. Of course, this is still a pre-launch device, so I would not put too much weight on benchmark numbers alone. What matters more for a gaming phone is how well it can keep that performance for long sessions.
RedMagic is also changing the design. The 12 Pro+ will be lighter, thinner and narrower than the previous model, with more rounded edges. That should make it easier to hold during long gaming sessions.

Even thinner display bezels

The screen is getting a small but useful design upgrade. RedMagic has reduced the black border around the display from 1.25mm on the 11 Pro+ to just 0.96mm on the new model.
The phone will also keep its under-display selfie camera. There will be no punch-hole or notch, giving the display a clean look that should work especially well for gaming and video.

Big battery still unconfirmed

Earlier leaks claimed that the RedMagic 12 Pro+ could pack an 8,400mAh battery with 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging.
Those numbers have not been confirmed by RedMagic yet, so I would treat them as rumors for now. The company has confirmed that cooling will be a major focus, but it has not revealed the full system yet.
Chinese buyers can already reserve the phone by paying 100 yuan, around $15. The reservation package includes various benefits that RedMagic values at up to 4,300 yuan, or around $641, including a Cooler 8 Pro, cashback and trade-in offers.
With the launch only days away, the RedMagic 12 Pro+ is shaping up to be one of the most interesting gaming phones of the year. The big question now is how much all this hardware will cost.
