Purported leaked image shows Xiaomi Mi5 with fingerprint scanner

xiaomi mi5 fingerprint

An alleged leaked photo shows us what the Xiaomi Mi5 could look like with the addition of a fingerprint scanner home button.

Rumour has it that Xiaomi are already working on a new flagship phone, one that could launch as earlier as Q1 2015! and to solidify the rumours a new purported leaked image of the Xiaomi Mi5 has been posted.

As with all leaked photos you can take this image with a large tablespoon of salt, but incase this leaked image (complete with wonky home button) is in fact the real deal we thought we would share it.

Gizchina News of the week

The image originally showed up on GizChina.it, and shows a phone similar in design to the Xiaomi Mi4 only with narrower bezels and a physical home button on the chin. It is believed that the home button will house a fingerprint scanner just like that on the Meizu MX4 Pro and iPhone.

Specifications for the phone are based on previous leaks which claim a screen size of between 5.5-inch and 5.7-inch, at least 3GB RAM and Snapdragon 810 processor.

Personally I don’t expect Xiaomi to launch a replacement for the Xiaomi Mi4 until later in the year (around early Q3 of 2015), but I could be wrong. What do you guy’s think?

Yeah it really does look fake. It actually looks like a button from a Galaxy S4 Mini. The color is way of to…

This looks like a fake. The button has a better JPEG Compression than the rest of the phone and the light reflections are different also. In addition Hugo Barra says a two days ago that Xiaomi only will support fingerprint when Android will native support it. So long they will wait.

I guess you don’t lock your phone and don’t shop….

Well-functioning fingerprint scanners like the iPhone’s are the first useful feature to come to phones in a while. I would not buy another phone without it.

I hope this is not a sliding scanner, like Samsung’s. Looks fake to me. Ugly, too.

This could be a winner, if it has a good camera, although I am a bit doubtful there.
