Upcoming Ulefone set for March release with fingerprint scanner and Android 5.0

ulefone leak march

It might be the Chinese New Year, but someone at Ulefone is still hard at work keeping us up to date with their latest smartphones.

To follow up the popular Be One Pro and Be X phones, Ulefone will release another Android smartphone in March. Full details of the new phone are unclear but we do know that it will ship with android 5.0 Lollipop from the box and will get a fingerprint scanner.

We can assume that the new Ulefone will ship with either a Mediatek MT6752 or MT6732 processor (as it runs Lollipop) meaning dual SIM, SD and LTE are likely features of the new phone too.

As for the design, well these teasers point at a phone similar to the shape of the Meizu MX4, and also show the inclusion of a dual tone LED flash on the rear as well.

Do you own a Umi Zero ?

nope , i had a ulephone u58, just need to make a decision what to buy.
wanna come back to 5″ after spending a little time with 5.5″ screen.

Which 5″ smartphones are you considering ?

umi zero and we’ll see what’s the deal with that kingzone z1 , which is unclear 5 or 5.5 will be 🙂

I need a smartphone by April /May, at the most I’m going for Jiayu S3, purely on reputation of previous models, unless the S4 materializes. The Kingzone Z1 does look very smart though (although don’t know much about reputation).

kingzone is a good brand, that doesn’t seem to show too many flaws in quality deaprtment.

Sounds good. The only thing that may sway me for the Jiayu is it will get a fair amount of custom rom support I believe.

Is it the Umi Zero that was released in 2014 or have they updated it since, looks very smart from what i’ve seen.

unfortunately, it’s the same and the white version, that should come to sales after new year is still mt6592, no changes, although it seems kinda stupid. .

Interesting, at this point my mind is on the Jiayu S3, for purchase around April time, unless anyone can sway me otherwise. From what I understand their phones have been solid in the past.

HD definition for a 5.5” screen… it seems poor.

I agree, I have a Kingzone K1 turbo with a fantastic FHD screen. Very disappointed the Z1 is downgraded. Maybe there’s a Pro version on the way too

            • Simon
              February 21, 2015

How long have you had the K1 Turbo & how have you found it ?

            • Paul Sleight
              February 23, 2015

Sorry Simon, I missed your question… Had the K1 turbo for nearly a year I think. I was very pleased with it apart from call quality which seems to be due to a bug with the noise cancelling mic. Unfortunately it got trapped in some machinery and was crushed on one side.
I have become used to using a 5.5 inch screen, although a bit awkward at times. Going back to the 4.7 inch Nexus 4 was a bit of a strain. I am thinking I might prefer a 5 or 5.2 size instead, but I would also like it to be FHD.

            February 21, 2015

Yeah, HD is fine in 4.7″ but for 5.5″ I expect FHD at least. Kingzone really dropped the ball on that one since the model looks so nice too.

i really think there is a mistake in the description. i don’t know exactly, but seems like it comes with 5″ fhd jdi screen, not 5.5″. dimensions are in for 5″ , there is 5″ icon on bottom of the page.

I bought the Be Pro. Unfortunately the mic didn’t work so I’ve shipped it back to Gearbest for a replacement. I don’t believe the phone will ever get back to Gearbest and so I don’t believe I’ll ever get a replacement. But that’s another story.

The phone was really sweet and the 5.5inch screen was great for surfing the web. Battery life was better than the 5 inch replacement phone I bought and while I had the phone I received 2 firmware updates. The phone has a lot of features that are absent from the Doogee phone I’m using now.

I’m very disappointed that Ulefone’s quality control did not find the faulty mic as this is really causing problems for me. Fortunately I paid with PayPal so I have about two weeks left to file a claim, if it gets to that.

Hopefully no one else has had problems with the phone.

If they don’t receive the phone back. How can you make a claim ?

        • Owsley_66
          February 20, 2015

Good question. I am sending it to them in China using the address information they provided. I also have a tracking number which I’ve given to Gearbest. I’ve done my part so if the phone doesn’t reach them then who’s to blame?

Can’t hurt to file a claim with PayPal. Also, never hurts to make issues like these public and if everything works out I will gladly post that here.

I’ve never used PayPal, so don’t know the protocol, but when I do, need to have the facts. Hopefully they will email you & send a replacement. Obviously any feedback of what am will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It could be that all was fine and the shipping cause a broken connection or something like that.
The packages really do take a pounding.

too bad hope its will be fine for you at the end. thanks for your review

The Be Pro and Be One seem to be getting good reviews around the board. Some units seem to have defects like Owsley_66 here, but thankfully these issues aren’t too widespread.

i will laugh if the “compact” is a 5 inch phone

I think compact will refer to small bezels instead of an actual small phone.

i dont like the fingerpring, someone can steal it from your phone with an app and use it in airports,
and to tell the truth, i dont know why people need it, nobody is going to steal pictures from your phone or make phone calls- put password and thats it.

Ulefone; the same guys that can’t tell the difference between a 13 mega-pixel camera from Sony and a 8 Mega-pixel camera from Omnivision? https://www.gizchina.com/2015/02/05/ulefone-apologies-camera-specifications/

I queried coolicool on why they were still advertizing a Ulefone Be Pro with 13 megapixel camera and they deleted my comment. So there’s a phone(y) manufacturer and a reseller I will never buy from!

  6. February 26, 2015

Please triple-check with their marketing department to verify that there is indeed a fingerprint scanner on the phone and not just on the ad (fingerprint scanner, not fingerprint banner? ;)).

I appreciate your comment, I definitely wont be trusting a company that straight up lies on their specs.
