LTE equipped, 2GB RAM, JiaYu F2 goes on sale for $124.99

JiaYu’s 2nd phone for the year has already made its way to international phone resellers. The JiaYu F2 is not on sale for $124.99, but is it a phone you would consider buying?

JiaYu hit the nail on the head with the JiaYu S3. It features a nice design, great screen, fast performance and feature packed ROM. For their new entry-level phone though, JiaYu have made the controversial choice of using an older MT6582 chipset, but I’m not sure you should let that put you off.

At $124.99 the JiaYu F2 has a lot going for it. The design is smart and uncomplicated, and the overall specification is very high considering the low price tag. Up front JiaYu have gone for a 5-inch 720p IPS display, above that lives a 5 mega-pixel front camera, and on the rear an 8 mega-pixel Sony IMX179 sensor.

Gizchina News of the week

Internal hardware is where JiaYu have been a little cunning. Rather than opt for the more popular MT6732 processor with integrated LTE, JiaYu have chosen the MT6582 chipset (popular on low-cost phones last year) with an additional LTE modem to bring 4G support for the phone. This has obviously saved a little money and allowed for a larger 3000mAh battery, 2GB RAM, OTG, dual SIM and micro SD card memory expansion, all uncommon features on a phone costing less than $125.

The MT6582 chip might put a few people off, but in the past I have been impressed with JiaYu’s build quality, and the hardware of this phone for the price really do look impressive. It’s certainly one of the low-cost phones I would consider.

Not even worth considering.. because Jia Yu cheated…just put cheap junk SOC MT6582…in lieu of much more efficient MT6732…use of junk 2013 components is a sure Redflag…what we they thinking ?? et.tu.JiaYu ???

You mean *MTK6582. Well, it’s not iphone, so it’s not “cheating” (it’s in the specs).
4.7″ would be a better solution for this phone. And i’m not sure about the GPS quality in MTK6582 SoC.

Actually, the official name for the soc is ‘MT6582’, not ‘MTK6582’. So Vijay is right.

          He put mt6592 first.

The MT6582 is pretty reliable piece of SoC, just very weak in the graphics department. If this phone costed 99$ everyone would get it, but at 140USD(after re-sellers)I`d rather pay the extra 50 for a S3 which is whole new ball game.

I still like this phone, they could add MT6732 on this device, but even with MTK6582 the phone has everything we ask for. 16GB + TF Card, Big battery and 4G. And at least a real sony camera. MTK6582 still running fine, I have a iNew V3 and I don’t face any problem using it, or lags, even on games. But of course if they at least put the MTK6592 here, not mentioning the MTK6732, should be a really better deal.

talking about stupid choices… they would have made the perfect “minor brother” of the s3 with mt6732, looks like they ended with making the grandpa!

It’s still a lot of phone for the money, but a MTK 6732 would have been good. My wife wants one.
