Exclusive: Gionee Elife E8 images ahead of launch

Gionee’s launch for the Elife E8 will begin in a few hours from now, but we’ve managed to get some exclusive hands on photos of the device for you to gawk at until then.

The Elife E8 will be the flagship for Gionee this year, and will be succeeding the very popular Elife E7, which is still revered for its camera prowess (and is available for really attractive prices now, since they want to clear inventory).

Gizchina News of the week

The E8 will feature flagship level specs, and if a rebranded version of the device is to be believed, it’ll have a 6-inch QHD screen, 3GB RAM, a 64-bit octa-core processor and a 24 mega-pixel rear camera. Needless to say, the Elife E8 will feature an Elephone P7000-style fingerprint sensor on the rear.

While you wait for the launch to wrap up, take a look at these exclusive images of the phone.

OT: waiting on the price of this awesomeness.. probably too high for me, but one can hope!

Another site said it’s rebranded and sold in Romania for US$554 but Romania adds 24% VAT.

Gionee has contracts with about 10 companies that sell and rebrand some of their devices. It’s kind of a joint venture they all share in the design costs and Gionee manufacturers everything.

Few years to come, we’ll have phones with even higher mega-pixel.

Frankly its not really needed. 8 is more than enough to take excellent pictures, what we need is better optics, OIS to be standard, better software etc.

Balco, you kindly answered a question for me before, so I’d like to ask another. I’ll be stopping in China on a trip into the US in 2 weeks (inbound in Guangzhou, return in Wuhan). Do you know if there are brick & mortar chains where I can get deals similar to the online shops? I’d like to hand carry a phone back to Thailand to avoid the Customs duty. Thanks!

I am the wrong person to ask that one too. I actually live in Thailand, I only go to China once or twice a year for business. Post on the forum someone there should be able to answer it.

Gionee uses Amigo OS which is just as useless as Color OS lol. One of the few things that I hate about Gionee is their software.
