Camera-centric, mid-range ‘F series’ of OPPO phones coming soon

unnamedChina’s OPPO is set to announce yet another smartphone series, but with a bit of a twist.

Gizchina News of the week

The new F series of phones is going to have camera-rich features while being ‘mid-range’. We’re guessing that means a mid-range price as well.

The first of the F series phones, the F1, is set to take to the markets this month. No launch date, specifications or pricing have been revealed yet.

OPPO VP, Sky Li thinks that “the F series will inherit the excellent camera performance and exquisite design traditions that have earned accolades for OPPO’s flagship series.”

“We are all very excited to introduce the F series, which will allow an even wider range of users from all around the world to experience OPPO’s outstanding photography technology,” Li said.

You can expect more action on this front from OPPO in the coming weeks. How does the idea of a mid-range camera-centric phone sound to you (besides ultra niche)?

It sounds ultra expensive, I guess it’s to compete with the vivo xshot and Lenovo vibe x3. This is an area of the market that my wife fits in as she takes pictures of everything!

Mid range for oppo only means; the same premium price as our other phones but with a crappier processor a la SD620.

I have a terrible feeling that Oppo has discontinued the Find series and there won’t be a Find 9. Of course I don’t know that but it is taking forever and Oppo hasn’t even confirmed that it will be a Find 9.
