Doogee F7 takes on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Doogee F7

Xiaomi Redmi series is one of the most popular budget or lower midrange choice not just in China, but more or less anywhere else. So it makes sense some other manufacturers are trying to emulate the success and steal some of the spotlight, just like Doogee F7 is trying to do comparing itself to the Redmi Note 4. But with a little price twist in their favor.

Both phones are actually remarkably similar hardware-wise and even in the design can be found many connecting points like metal body with almost the same weight, 170g for Dooogee and 175g for Xiaomi. But if you look inside the phones it’s basically identical setup to almost every detail.

Gizchina News of the week

Starting with the 5,5-inch FullHD display, Helio X20 processor, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB of storage, 13 Mpix rear camera, 5 Mpix front camera, microSD slot, Android 6.0 Marshmallow and fingerprint scanner on the back. Redmi Note 4 has a bit of an edge with 4100 mAh battery capacity compared to 3600 mAh in the F7, but it’s still solid and both of course support the fast charging. Siblings at its best one could say.

Pricing is also quite the same with the retail price level being put at $189.99, but here comes the Doogee with an ace up their sleeve. From January 4th to January 10th first 200 customers each day can get the Doogee F7 for just $125.19 special price, which is a massive price slash indeed. It starts every day at 16:00 GMT+8 so surely check it out in this link and happy hunting.

I don’t get it. It does not any advantage over Redmi Note 4. So why should anyone pick this phone over Redmi Note 4?

I find it extremely annoying that, each year, phones are getting heavier. The Redmi Note 3 was 164 grams, which is already on the heavy side compared to the LG G3 at 149 grams or the Galaxy S7 Edge at 157 grams – both 5.5 inch phones. Now, the Xiaomi Note 4 is 175 grams, fully 11 grams heavier than its predecessor!! I simply would never buy any 5.5 inch phone that heavy regardless of price or features. Based on this trend, will all 5.5 inch phones be over 200 grams in a year or two?? We need to get back to lighter materials in phones.

I think a lot of phones have had a bump up in the battery department leading to the small weight increase so stop whining! I’m sure they could put a 1000mAh battery in and make it weigh 100g for you, but you’d probably complain it needed charging too frequently instead. If a whole 11g is too much for you I suggest you get down the gym! Lol

You are showing your ignorance here. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and 4 both have approx 4000 mAh batteries. Same with their Redmi 3 and 4, yet the 4’s in both cases are heavier. If you can’t make a civil comment why don’t you keep it to yourself. Or don’t you understand the meaning of intelligent conversation??!!

Intelligent conversation from the man complaining about 11g? Get over yourself, if you want a phone that weighs nothing then buy a cheap plastic one with a small battery, the rest of us will sacrifice the almost indistinguishable weight difference for a superior built phone that won’t fall apart the 1st time it’s dropped.

Doogee can not provide stable firmware I guess. MIUI with xposed modules like MIUI Tweaks is perfect!
