HP Releases Touchpad Androd Source Code

Last year as HP’s Touchpad was flying off shelves for only $99 a couple of lucky customers found their new HP tablet to be running Android instead of WebOS, now HP have made the Touchpad Android source code open to anyone!

The Android ROM which was found on a handful of HP Touchpad’s was actually only meant for internal testing purposes, but due to the huge popularity of the now discontinued HP Touchpad, HP have decided to release the Android Kernal for anyone to download!

Gizchina News of the week

Although this is the ‘official’ Android Kernal for the HP Touchpad, it hasn’t been updated in over a year and is missing some vital features such as WIFI support.

However, is such a talented and dedicated team of Android for HP hackers and developers hard at work, it shouldn’t take long for a fully functioning Honeycomb ROM for the HP Touchpad to be ready!
