6000 JiaYu G4 Youth to be sold in China Today!

JiaYu are acting out of character and actually seem to be moving pretty fast. Just hours after posting they had received a network licesnse for the G4 a pre-order page for the JiaYu G4 Youth has gone live!

Just 6000 JiaYu G4 Youth i.e the 1GB model with 3000mAh battery, will be available in China only from 12:30 today. This version is the same that we currently have on review and does not feature OTG support (check this if you find any International reseller with stock in the next day or so).

Gizchina News of the week

Other than the lack of OTG these versions of the G4 will come with the same 1.2Ghz quad-core MT6589 CPU, 1GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel camera and Lewa ROM Android 4.2 as the full production models.

As previously reported the black version of the G4 will cost 999 Yuan while the white has a slight premium at 1029 Yuan, International prices have yet to be set, however we have spoken to some stores who are advertising this model at $250!

its a good idea to turn off backlight button especially on white version. I never saw white version china android without light leak on them. Very cheapo , very irritating…

And most of the phones that have, have that much cheap lights the one is brighter than the other, wich looks awfull.

actually it would be better if people could change settings for the backlight navigation buttons on or off according to one’s desire
but i don’t think it looks cheap nor irritating because it can be handy so..

“No backlight of buttons” – this can be a problem when you decide to sell the G4. You will need to prove to the buyer that the lights did not work initially… 🙂

For the money I can sell a G4 after one year of usage, that light will be not important for about $60 resell price.
The bigest enemy of actual smartphones is their size (bigger screen break faster than smaller screens) and being heavy, the impact will be deadly for the phone.

So when you will buy a smartphone just pray to keep it at least 1 year and not break it.
What is your chance in 365 days the smartphone to not fall ever from your hands? Your or your kid/friend/sister, or to not sit on it.

hey Andy, this is available online or in chinese jiayu shops, and when is another delivery expected, i am going to china next week so maybe i will be lucky enough to catch one. Thanks

I know some online stores do have them and after today there will likely be more. I also know that some JiaYu stores in the Shenzhen also have them, but prices are higher than the online price.

Shutting off back light on buttons is stupid IMO. Especially for the reason to reduce power drain.
Sounds like grasping at straws to me.

Maybe they should engrave them with glow in the dark paint.

So you can actually buy the Jiayu G4 now ( I mean not preorder…but BUY) ?

    • May 22, 2013

In China yes, and if you are lucky to find one of the resellers who has stock yes, BUT it won’t have OTG support (not that it would bother me personally)

I have heard nothing about the 2GB version (or the 1850mAh) model for a long time, not sure what is happening.

        May 23, 2013

Based on user feedback I think they will never produce the 1850mAh version. No reason. Brainless.
For example, nobody wrote here that he want the poor battery G4 version.

Judging from this side I think they made an design mistake by creating the G4 based on an 1850mAh battery. If they designed it for a larger battery, today the G4 could be thinner than now.
