Tianhe H920+, first quad-core MT6589T Turbo phone available internationally!

The sheer volume of Chinese phone launches, news and rumours, inevitably means that we do miss the odd phone now and then, which is the case with the Tianhe H920+! A quad-core MT6589T Turbo phone on sale now.

While chatting to a friend on QQ earlier today, I asked when will international customers be likely to by a 1.5Ghz MT6589T phone, the answer was simply ‘Now’. After a brief discussion I soon found out that a number of resellers are now selling the Tianhe H920+ Android phone which comes equipped with the latest Mediatek chip!

The H920+ lends much of it’s styling from the HTC Butterfly and actually offers the same size 5-inch display at the same 1920 x 1080 resolution, making this Chinese handset a full 1080 phone!

Gizchina News of the week

Looking overt the hardware you can see that some compromises have been made to get that Turbo CPU and 1080 panel on the phone. There is just 4GB ROM for example and the main camera is an 8 mega-pixel sensor, but neither of these items should effect the overall performance.

tianhe h920+ rear

As with most MTK phones the Tianhe H920+ has space for a SD card, dual-sim support and has a removable battery, however we aren’t quite sure how big the battery is. We had a quick search and found the H920+ on sale from around $270.

Have any of you had any experience with the Tianhe brand? Do you have one of the new H920+ phones? Let us know in the comments section.

If the + case version is like the normal H920, the battery should be the same as H920: 2800mAh.
But the H920 is sold now under $200 on AliExpress MT6589 and 720p display.

So I will wait for more T smartphone versions which will end in a price under $200.

    270 $ is a bit too much for a phone with only 4 GB… even with a 1080P screen.

It makes me wonder then how come UMI is claiming the shortages for MTK6589T chips for its Turbo version. Your thoughts Andi ??

    • May 29, 2013

They have to much demand and such a small factory, they are just having trouble keeping up.

The biggest problem is not so much keeping up with the rumors but rather finding out what is actually a pre-sale and what is in stock.

Almost none of the sale sites offer disclosure on these issues!!

Andi since you have a lot of insight into these matters and have their ear on occasion, maybe you should put in a word or two at the more popular ones. others will follow their example.

Most of them are working on search filters and that is good, but they need to up their game in more options and better transparency. 🙂

i don’t really think i will get a mtk6589t mobile for 270$ here in spain. i would say it will come to europe (if so) and will be 300€, at minimum. I don’t really get why people want to spend 50% more in their phones just for having a shop near home which sells it. I buy to chinese dealers and i will never spend more “bucks for nothing” in these english shops whose benefit is clear. but, well, it’s my opinnion

I.m wearing a nice warm hat labelled Tianhe, or rather it’s got that in Chinese characters – means swan, flies high. Howabout sansan for tinned food – means three umbrellas?

      • May 30, 2013

LOL i guess in chinese characters ain’t that bad, but it sounds weird and for a phone even weirder
        – sansan – means three umbrellas – that’s funny 😀

After a facepalm and caffeine ingestion, I guess few Chinese read these comments. The “swan” hat is tiane, but I still like the idea of a phone named after the Milky Way (star constellation)

Posting this from my H920 plus, performance, screen and design are all excellent. A phone well worth getting for the 235 dollars it costs in certain places. Feels just like a top tier phone. Storage space is fine when you plug in an sd card.

        September 20, 2013

Very sharp by my standards, although I can’t compare it to something else to see if it’s 8MP like this article says or 13MP as listed on the site where I bought it. 8MP with 5MP interpolation wouldn’t surprise me. But I can guarantee you there is nothing wrong with it and the quality is quite nice.

One thing: the standard launcher installed on it is very choppy and it will scare you the first time you run this phone. However, the problem is easily solved by installing Apex launcher or another launcher app.

Also it’s battery is probably smaller by 2800mAh… Inscription on the battery is not consistent with 2800, more like 2000mAh, even though 2800 is also displayed on it. Battery isn’t the strongest suit of this phone unfortunately.

I had a desire, this phone have no such good quality as desire but is good enough for me (more like a Samsung galaxy S2).
Very good quality of screen, the sound is “normal”(better than my desire)
the camera is very good like the s4 of a work friend .No difference !
the phone signal is not so good than the samsung s4.
i install custom rom Star h920+ from needrom and an apex launcher with sense icons, and i am fully like on htc.
