Xiaomi Mi3 running Tegra 4 processor and 1080 display spotted in latest benchmarks

As the rumoured launch date draws closer, the Xiaomi Mi3 breaks cover once again in leaked benchmarks showing off a Nvidia Tegra 4 processor and 1080 display!

GFXBench is a 3D graphics benchmark suite which allows you to compare performance of phone and tablet GPU’s. The online database is also a treasure trove of facts which include a devices screen resolution, processor and more and guess which phone has just been spotted there?

Chinese tech site MyDrivers are claiming to have spotted the Xiaomi Mi3 over on GFXBench where the phone not only performed admirably against the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One and even the Nvidia Shield, but also let slip a few details about it hardware specs.

Gizchina News of the week

In particular this version of the Xiaomi Mi3 seems to be running a Nvidia Tegra 4 processor clocked at 1.8Ghz, packs a 1920 x 1080 display and is running Android 4.2.2 (current Xiaomi phones don’t run above Android 4.1).

xiaomi mi3 tegra 4 benchmarks

Although a great find it still doesn’t confirm that Xiaomi have finalised the Mi3 specification and we could see a change in processor before August 16th!

NEITHER TEGRA 4 NOR SNAPDRAGON 800 COULD BEAT INTEL’S UPCOMING BAYTRAIL AND MERIFIELD, THERE IS A LEAKED ANTUTU SCORE OF BAYTRAIL POWERED TABLET, THE SCORE IS 43K++ AND THAT IS ONLY CLOCKED AT 1.1GHZ (MAX 2.1GHZ), MAYBE EVEN TEGRA 5 AND SNAPDRAGON 900 ARE NO MATCH….

I dont know, but intel stated that its not just very powerfull but also very efficient in battery use, if it could last for a full day or two on a single charge, no prob, is it not?

Well, Andi thanks for keeping us updated. The image above shows that mi3 is gonna have a really thin bezels, however, I’m not convinced of a tegra4 for the international version of mi3.

I’m of the opinion that mi3, may host an Intel BayTrail or snapdragon 800 processor. (check my forum topic below the page)

Not bad performance considering that previous Tegras have been pretty middle of the road performance-wise. I don’t think it will be the fastest chip around when it is released, however. The fact that the leaked benchmarks are for GFXbench 2.5 instead of the more shader-heavy 2.7 leads me to think that the Snapdragon 800 will offer better performance.

The benchmarks I have linked from Anandtech are for the development tablet version of the S800 so clocks and performance will probably will certainly be a little lower to fit within a phone’s power envelope but it seems so much more powerful than the S600 chips that I’d be extremely surprised if the T4 could get close in graphically-intensive usage.

It will be interesting to see how well NVIDIA manage to get the power consumption side of the T4 working as all the previous chips using Cortex-A15s have been rather power hungry!

Edit: Click my name for the Anandtech link. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

Well, I’m hoping they stick with Qualcomm for all carrier devices, as the Tegra series have disappointed me far too much the last couple years. I’ve had bad luck with any device I’ve touched with an Nvidia chip inside it. The 2 processor choice will be nice, some people love Tegra for gaming, though I see little benefit to it.
