Zopo have finally launched their flagship 1080 Zopo ZP980 with the option of 2GB RAM and 32GB memory!
The Zopo ZP980 was a great phone when it originally launched with 1GB RAM and the standard MT6589 processor, Zopo still went ahead and updated the phone to 1.5Ghz MT6589T Turbo spec though and today they have announced that more upgrades are here!

Zopomobileshop.com are accepting pre-orders for the phone which will only be available in black to start at a price of $349.99.

No Gorilla glass and no sending from European warehouse.
So it would cost an extra 30 usd for sending, plus the risk of paying tax.
They have a european warehouse, so maybe it’s better to wait untill they sent it from there and do not get into a hassle for taxpayments.

If you look at the specifications on Zopomobileshop, you see there is no mention of Gorilla glass. Well: either their marketing department is sleeping (because Gorilla glass is a selling point) or it indeed has no gorilla glass.
I hope they are going to ship this phone from europe. That would be a selling point to me!

Andi, On a different topic, could you please confirm the exact GSM bands for THL w11, some sites say it has quad gsm bands , some says it has only GSM 900/1800MHz bands. I need to know the correct thing…. as it wont work in USA with this bands.
Why do Chinese phones all seem to have split storage with tiny apps partitions? Google have shown the way by having all the storage as one partition on the Nexus devices.

Check the detailed specs on http://www.aliexpress.com – do a search for “zp980 2gb” and click on any of the results. Most of them are shipping immediately, so no questionof pre-orders. Zopo India, whom i spoke with, say they will start delivery in “maybe around 10 days” against 100% advance payment, but their price is ridiculously low!

I ordered zp980 scorpio from dhgate on friday. It should arrive within a week or two. Seller confirmed they had it in stock and that it was the 32gb rom / 2gb ram version. No idea why the actual shops would show pre-order…
I have bad experiences with DHgate… selles claimed an Umi X2 was in stock but still had a timeline of 2 weeks for sending. And when the timeline was over… he did not sent it. Now I am waiting for a refund that DHgate claims can take up to 4 weeks. No more DHgate for me, I am not a Bank!
got confirmation from zopomobilshop that black coloured version does not have gorilla glass… disappointing…does this mean white will have gorilla protection ?
earlier when zp980 without turbo they said they it is gorilla glass protected…

I am stuck between Giyayu G4 vs Zopo 980 regarding to build quality…as i see your reviews earlier, giyayu has better build than zopo.. But i liked specs of 980….is build quality of 980 good ? In forums they complaind about cracks in zopo screen…so just confused ๐ ๐ ๐

i stil don’t get the difference between the c2 and the zp980.
first we were told the OS was different. but now there are both android devices.
so i was thinking they wanted to get rid of the stock because of the alyun fail but there is now a c2 platinum.
i don’t understand the marketing of zopo while a basic zp980 is more expensive than the c2 platinum. and looking at the specs, which one is really the flagship?
is the c-series a substitute for the hero series?

BTW there’s a listing for iOcean X7 Elite – 32/2 GB, 1.5 GHz, on eBay India which is very reasonably priced – I just placed an order a couple of days back which they’ve shipped yesterday. Will update when I receive the phone.
Only problem for iocean for me is it is only wcdma 2100… Why don’t Chinese make quad band wcdma mobiles
I bought this phone, its currently with the courier on its way to me. I will post back with a quick review once I get it and try it out. certainly seems to kick the umi’s butt.. and also see the iocean x7 elite 32/2 version is sold out worldwide so this is really your only option.

I was tempted too, shame the w8 is so ugly. Had they used the same design as the w11 i would have taken that first choice.
Same here ..I have dual core so needed an upgrade and same shape of w8s is boring and w11 doesnt have quad gsm bands …so I finalliezed this one …I like everything in this except battery it should be over 2000
