JiaYu want to launch their own low-cost Xiaomi Red Rice rival!

Domestic phone maker JiaYu are talking about launching their own low-cost dual-sim Android phone to rival the recently launched Xiaomi Red Rice.

Xiaomi launch the 799 Yuan Red Rice last week simultaneously pleasing Xiaomi fans and painting a target on their backs which smaller Chinese brands are now looking to take aim on. JiaYu are rumoured to be the first and are looking to launch an entry-level quad-core MTK phone later this year at an even lower price point!

Gizchina News of the week

Specifications of the mystery JiaYu are expected to be similar to the Red Rice with the only differences being the use a of a 1.2Ghz non-turbo MT6589 chipset and possibly a smaller 4.3 or 4.5-inch display. Obviously the JiaYu phone will lack MIUI V5 (however it will likely support the ROM) but the most interesting news is the possibility of a 499 Yuan launch price!

Why not a new price on the G3 and/or G2.
That would basicly do the job.

    Jiayu is another word for:
    – Maybe
    – Perhaps
    – I’m not sure when
    – Somewhere in the future
    – Delay
    – Not happening any time soon

They have all these ideas. Maybe they need lottery funding, to actually produce the goods

I can wait. Mtk6589 phones for 499¥ aren’t going to show up anytime soon. But if they wait enough they will end releasing the phone with a mtk6588 xd.

a bit of offtopic but what is the price in yuan for G4 turbo 1gb ram 3000mha? still lack of stock?

      August 6, 2013

Don’t know the yuan price but there is lots of G4 1Gb turbo stock out there and Jiayu keep releasing big batches of them.

    • August 6, 2013

I dunno G4 turbo, but Jiayu G4 with 3000mAh battery cost 1299RMB on Taobao, just go to taobao.com and search for 佳域g4 if you would tell me exact difference between turbo and non turbo I can tell you the price on taobao, don’t want to spam here with links to taobao

  12. August 5, 2013

    by the time jayui brings a phone on the market they can justify the price only because it is an old-timer (belongs in a museum }

  13. August 5, 2013

what is the point of releasing these news? both company just CAN’T DELIVER, for xiaomi wait at least until end of year, for Jiayu wait until 2014

although I dunno what’s special about 4.3-4.5″ MTK6589 with 1GB RAM and probably with 540×960 because I’m pretty sure they can’t deliver 720p display for this price until maybe 3/2014 or later

this looks interesting for 535RMB 🙂 aklthough i’m pretty sure some of specs are fake, some people say it’s actually dual-core, some people say wifi is crap, some people say battery is superweak, but what you can expect for phone for this price
