UMi X2 ‘Practical Edition’ coming 6th September

Umi will be launching what they are calling the UMi X2 practical edition on 6th September, so what makes this more practical than previous versions?

The UMi X2 has been out for quite a while know and with the looming launch of the UMi Cross, the marketing team behind the phone are obviously trying to think of new ways to drum up some custom for their 5-incher.

Gizchina News of the week

In actual fact it looks, at least to us, that Umi have too many 32GB memory chips and an overstock of 1GB RAM modules so they have paired them together in a new mid range UMi X2 variant!

Other than the odd mix of 1GB RAM and 32GB memory the rest of the hardware on the X2 remains the same. Pricing (in China) will be around 1199 Yuan ($200).

2gb RAM + 4gb RAM would be a good ‘practical edition’
For me, as an sd card allows the memory to be extended, 32gb internal isn’t needed.
But 2gb ram would be a nice advantage for a smaller price then the 32gb ROM and 2gb RAM version

I agree. Practical would be 2gb ram, and 4 or 8gb rom. The 32gb rom will go to waste when you replace your phone… while you can carry over a 32 or 64gb micro sd.

The +1 is for Devast’s comment.

I don ‘t see your point. What’s preventing you from transferring all your 32GB of internal data to a 32GB SD card, when you replace your phone? Besides, in that case the SoC, the IPS LCD, the radio front-end , battery, case, etc. go to waste too.
Having plenty of internal memory in addition to plenty SD card capacity always is a good thing.

Yes, it’s a good thing IF you need it. For me, personally, a 32-64gb micro sd can satisfy all my needs. And while the soc, lcd, radio frontend are integral parts of a phone, internal storage size is totally optional.
Long story short: I do not want to pay the price of 32gb internal flash, that’s tied to the phone, when i can buy micro sd cards.

Indeed, so many 2 GB RAM phones go with 32 GB of ROM. No need for that with 64 GB cards on the market.
