The 7-inch Huawei Honour 7D-501U has just been seen receiving its network license, further blurring the lines between phone and tablet.

Coolpad were the first to start the trend of 7-inch phablets with their Coolpad Halo device, but as that model seems to be only available in China, international readers will have to keep their fingers crossed Huawei will release their Honour 7D-501U in more markets.

Gizchina News of the week

Seen today at the Ministry of Comminucation, the Huawei Honour 7D-501U gets a 7-inch 1200 x 1920 resolution display, quad-core 1.6Ghz processor (possibly a Hisilcon model), 2GB RAM , 13 mega-pixel rear camera, 5 mega-pixel front and Andrroid 4.2.2.

Like the Halo device, Huawei will be marketing this 7-incher as a phablet device rather than a tablet at a rumoured retail price of around 1200 Yuan ($200). The device is expected to make an appearance at MWC later this month as the Huawei Mediapad X1.

Agreed, if these 7″ phablets were almost bezel-less then it would just about make it usable as a phone!
