JiaYu S2 pictured alongside the JiaYu G4

Just how thin is the Jiayu S2? Well it might not be as thin as the Gionee Elife E5.5 which just launched but at 6mm it can hardly be called fat.

JiaYu, known for making chunker smartphones, have caught the thinness bug and are going for a 6mm body on their next range topper. The JiaYu S2 has been seen in photos before, but usually by itself, these latest images show the S2 next to the JiaYu G4 to give a sense of size.

Gizchina News of the week

Both the thick and thin version of the G4 are pictured next to the S2, and as you can see the new octacore JiaYu phone is much thinner. Strangely in these photos the JiaYu S2 still looks like a chunky looking phone despite the overall dimensions of 139 x 67.5 x 6mm.

In earlier news JiaYu engineers have said development of the S2 is finished and the phone is ready to go in to production once the supply chains have been confirmed.

Which means it will have a weak, low capacity battery. No thanks.

Gionee managed a 2300mAh in 5.5mm, perhaps JiaYu have done something similar? https://www.gizchina.com/2014/02/19/gionee-elife-s5-5-goes-official-worlds-thinnest-smartphone/

They can manage to print even 10000mAh, the thing is what the real capacity is. But we won’t know that until reviewers actually review and test the phones, not just post blink blink and the specs handed to them by the seller. Go ahead and test the batteries. Open up the phones and see what hardware is really there, not what has been hacked into the kernels, etc. Trusting Antutu blindly for purposes of confirming specs…
