Tenaa again proves to be a hot bed for Chinese phone leaks, as we discover the carbon fibre ZTE M1001 phablet.

5.5+ inch phones are becoming the norm for most Chinese phone makers. Just this month we will see the 5.7-inch JiaYu G6 and iOcean X8 launched, however should either of these device not fit the bill there is another contender.

The ZTE M1001 measure in at 6-inches, but with narrow bezels, thin profile and overall compact (161.5 x 84 x 7.5mm) body, the phablet weighs just 171g.

Gizchina News of the week

Hardware is similar to the iOcean X8 and JiaYu G6, with 2GB RAM, octacore 1.7Ghz MT6592 processor, and dual SIM support and high-quality materials (carbon fibre in this case), but looses out on the camera front with just an 8 mega-pixel shooter on the rear and 5 mega-pixel front.

With a face mostly taken up with a 6-inch HD display, and a compact lightweight body, the ZTE M1001 has really peaked our interests! It’s just a shame the only model listed is a China Mobile TD-SCDMA 3G version!

Should ZTE launch a WCDMA ZTE M1001, would the premium design be enough to have you buy this over the competition?

very nice, but 720p screen looks quite strange on 6″(!), a little too big for my taste, but looks perfectly fine.
