Xiaomi tablet rumours heat up yet again as expected launch date nears

xiaomi tablet leaked

According to a report run by Reuters, China’s Xiaomi might finally release the much talked about, rarely glimpsed Xiaomi tablet possibly as soon as this month.

Xiaomi earlier said that the company would be hosting an event at Beijing on May 15th, but declined to divulge any further details. Curious souls will have a lot to guess, since Xiaomi have quite a lot due for the coming days. This includes — an MIUI V6 ROM, the Mi3S smartphone, and of course, the alleged MiPad (?) tablet.

Xiaomi has slowly been rising through ranks in the Chinese market, and is now eyeing a spot on the world map. With expansion going on full-fledged, the company could really do with a tablet with a high value proposition, which has been Xiaomi’s trademark.

Xiaomi Mi2S

The 4 year old company is already the 3rd largest maker in China, beating Apple while at it. With the Hongmi/Redmi series taking care of the budget segment, the Mi series of smartphones looking after the premium/high-end section of the market, a killer tablet is all that the manufacturer needs to further cement its place in the market.

Previous leaks have suggested that the tablet in question will have a 7.9-inch screen with a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution and a $160, to give the iPad mini a run for its money. Quite honestly, if that sort of a tablet does see a release, it would be hard to find anyone (at least among those reading this) who would opt for the Apple counterpart.

Nvidia Mocha leaked the other day. TK1 would work for Xiaomi if they decide to market it as a gaming device.

Too bad 4:3 AR is so far from ideal.16:10 fits content better and is easier to hold.
