iFive Mini 4 hopes to take down the Xiaomi Mi Pad

As we already pointed out in our review, the Xiaomi Mi Pad is one of the best Android tablets on the market today, but how long before other Chinese tablet makers learn from them and produce their own devices? Not long is the answer as the first Mi Pad rival from iFive has already been spotted.

Chinese tablet maker iFive have been making some impressive Android tablets this past year, and have taken their expertise to a new level with the iFive Mini 4 which they hope could take on the Xiaomi Mi Pad.

Gizchina News of the week

Like the Mi Pad the iFive Mini 4 has a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 Retinal display, Micro SD card , 8 mega-pixel main camera and 2GB RAM. Rather than a Nvidia Tegra K1 chip, iFive have gone for a 1.8Ghz Rockchips and SD cards are limited to 32GB rather than 128GB.

Pricing is where the iFive Mini 4 really comes in to its own though, and at a price of only 1099 Yuan (compared to 1499 Yuan for the Mi Pad) the iFive looks like a very competitive little tablet. If they can produce something similar with 3G or LTE built in for only slightly more we would be seriously interested in one for ourselves!

Now this is what I’ve been waiting for!!! Was so close around 2 months ago to getting a Mini 3gs, then I stumbled on this in the pipeline and thought I’ll wait instead… I’m not fussed about the 3g side of things, I just like it because it’s pretty much the exact same dimensions as an iPad Mini and it’ll be super powerful 🙂

Can you reivew one Andi??? 🙂

A friend of mine just got this one in China told me that it is a “mini toaster”. Gets very hot when playing big game–>throttled down cpu speed

Ye, I’ll steer clear then actually, it really doesn’t seem to be as good as I was expecting… I think maybe they missed the boat on this one…

A better option is the Pipo P8 available in 2 weeks with all the same specs.

The problem with the iFive Mini4 is the iFive User Interface is returning for the iFive Mini4 and has several menu sections that’s only available in Mandarin and can’t be changed.
