Breaking: Hugo Barra reveals Redmi series and Mi TV 2 launch timeline for India

In an interesting turn of events, Xiaomi’s high profile recruit, Hugo Barra took to BGR India‘s comments section to reveal launch details about their upcoming devices!

The only Xiaomi launch in India yet has been the Mi 3, which as you might already know, has gotten a rave response from the junta. It is expected that the Xiaomi ‘Moto G killer’ Redmi 1S will get an even better response, for the obvious VFM quotient it brings. Xiaomi announced the Redmi 1S and the Redmi Note for India last month, but a launch and availability date hasn’t yet been announced. However, Hugo knows better.

So as its clearly visible from Barra’s comment, the much anticipated Redmi 1S could see an Indian launch announcement as early as end of next week. We’ve reviewed the Redmi 1S, and the smartphone pretty much blows away the competition in the sub $150 range (the camera deserves a special mention).

Gizchina News of the week

The other Redmi phone Indians have been waiting for the most, the Redmi Note (which will be priced 9,999 INR in India) will launch before Diwali, which is when a lot of shopping happens in India. Xiaomi would like to cash in on exactly that. Interestingly, Xiaomi’s Mi TV 2, the insanely VFM 4K TV that everyone wants, is in the works as well.

Lastly, the Mi Pad and Mi 4, two of the newest Xiaomi releases, will come to India before the end of this year. This could put a lot of buyers in a fix, since the Mi 3 is going to get easier to get hold of, while some might want to hold out for the Mi 4.

Hoping they bring them to Malaysia as well. TVs here are seriously expensive.
