$7.5 Xiaomi ‘In-Ear Headphones Basic’ launched; To go on sale in Malaysia 16th September

If the Xiaomi Pistons werent affordable enough, here’s something that you might want to look at: In-Ear Headphones Basic, from the same company. And they cost less than 10 dollars!

This version of the popular Xiaomi Pistons is designed to deliver a similar experience at half the cost, as SoyaCincau rightly points out. At just RM25 (US7.82) apiece, these buds are exactly half the price of the Pistons that come with Kevlar protection. Of course, the metal build gets a miss on these as you would expect.

These buds will come with the in-line module that you’re used to seeing on the Pistons. The only other noticeable (or not?) difference would be the lack of gold plating that adorned the Pistons’ 3.5mm connector, understandably so.

With 10,000 units of the Redmi Note, 5,000 units of the Redmi 1S and 2,000 units of the Mi 3 pegged for sale, these affordable buds could make for a good accompaniment if you’re a resident of Malaysia. Are you getting a pair of these? Let us know.

There are tons of cheap Chinese headphones that costs below 10 dollars. There is quite a lot of great positive response about the Xiaomi pistons version 2.0. I am wondering if the basic ones are also great.

These are supposed to have a similar sound output, so it should be interesting.

Also these have a rated power of only 3mW as the Piston V2 have a rated power of 5mW. If you can spend the money just buy the Piston V2 you won’t regret and the chocolate smell is for free 🙂

Hope they are available in India soon, accessory wise Xiaomi has not shown India much love. Just 2 consignments of Pistons were brought to India and only one consignment of both the powerbanks, my brother bought the pistons and 10400 powerbank, got pistons but powerbank which was much needed got lost in transit. I am waiting for the next consignment of both to go on sale and this earphone.

I’ve bought the first generation Xiaomi Piston earphones because of the positive reviews on the internet. The build quility is awesome but the sound is disapointing, almost no bass at all. I’m not sure they’re original though.
