Xiaomi Mi Note sells out in just 3 minutes

If you thought that Xiaomi might have problems shifting their high-end and high-priced Xiaomi Mi Note then think again as the first rounds of sales has sold out in just 3 minutes.

Earlier today eager Xiaomi fans sat at their computers waiting to pre-order the latest Xiaomi flagship. At $370, the Mi Note costs slightly more than the base model Mi4, and many commenters believed Xiaomi might struggle to shift a comparatively expensive device.

However after only 3 minutes online Xiaomi closed the pre-order system claiming a staggering 220 million reservations for the phone had been made.

Gizchina News of the week

Although plenty of those reservation will have been made by Xiaomi fans a great deal of them are likely to have been made by resellers hoping to get stock of the 5.7-inch Mi Note for international sale.

The Xiaomi Mi Note boasts a Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM and 13 mega-pixel camera with OIS. A more expensive Pro version will also be offered with 2K display and Snapdragon 810 at a later time.

I am pretty sure it will have no problem selling in china, people who really want it there will fork out the money for it. However the international sales will probably be lower than expected (especially for on-line shops that sell phones out of China) since by the time you actually import one of these phones it will cost you the same as a flagship from a well known brand. And of course you will rather go with a Samsung or HTC phone if they cost the same as the Xiaomi phone.

On the contrary, I would rather go for XIAOMI than for SAMSUNG or HTC even if they were similar price. I think also many other customers who have once tried their phone…

As for 220 milion reservations think that is authors typo… 😉

those “sell outs” are a bunch of crap as long as they dont provide numbers of items sold.

didnt they received a fine for that kind of practice before?

Yeah 220 million sounds like way too many. I’d guess it’s more like 220 thousand? Even then 220,000 is quite a few units.

no I think it is 22 million

Now that I think about it, it was probably 220万 which is 220×10,000 = 2,200,000 which is 2.2 million. In China they use the unit 万 which stands for 10,000.

great specs, still a good price even though high for Xiaomi standards, 200$ under the Samsung, HTC price, seems a good deal to me

I have a feeling the number got lost in translation because in Chinese 2.2 million is “liang bai er shi wan” which literally translates as “two hundred twenty ten thousands” which probably got incorrectly translated as two hundred twenty million.
