Gionee confirms next thin phone is the Elife S7

Chinese phone makers are flocking to MWC this year, and the super thin Gionee Elife S7 will be among the crowd.

Gionee posted a press release a few days back stating that they intended to be at MWC with a new super thin Android phone designed to be thin without sacrificing components and hardware. In the press release Gionee even mentioned their new phone will have a headphone jack, a direct attack at the 4.85mm Oppo R5.

Gizchina News of the week

If Gionee are following their current naming method the Elife S7 will be a 7mm phone, thicker than the Oppo R5 of Vivo X5 Max, but still thinner than the majority of Android phones on the market. Though it is possible that the naming is nothing to do with the size this time (the S5.1 was 5.1mm) and that the ‘7’ simply refers to a successor to the S5 range.

Whatever Gionee have planned we will learn the full detains on March 2nd.

Thought it would more likely be a successor to the Elife 7, explaining the recent price cut.

I think this is gonna be the Elife E7 replacement and the ‘S’ means it will be slimmer than the original. don’t think they would be advertising it as being 7mm thick as there are already lots of phones around this thickness and it’s hardly as selling point.
