Smartisan made quite the impact with the launch of their T1 flagship with highly customised ROM last year, and hope to repeat the success with a sub 1000 Yuan device this year.

Smartisan is a highly modified version of Android OS, designed to be simple to look at and easy to use. The UI may not be to everyone’s tastes, but the high specifications and low-costs of the phones running the ROM have made the system quite popular in China.

Gizchina News of the week

For 2015 Smartisan hope to follow up the success of their T1 flagship with a T2 model launched in June, that will compete with the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 and Meizu m1 note. So far specifications for the phone are strictly under wraps, but at a 1000 Yuan price point and the handle “Small Hammer” we can expect a 64bit Mediatek device, with LTE, 2GB RAM and a display of 5-inch or less.
