Xiaomi celebrated selling 10 million units of its non-phablet flagship, which is the Mi 4 recently. Time is ripe for an upgrade, and it looks like Xiaomi is well aware of that.
The Mi 5 reportedly just leaked along with its larger sibling, i.e., the Mi 5 Plus. According to the leak, the 5.2-inch Mi 5 will come with not the Snapdragon 820 but the Snapdragon 810 which the OnePlus 2 will also have. In contrast to the ‘usual’ fingerprint sensors, the Mi 5 will also allegedly have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sense ID. The tech is compatible with some of the old Qualcomm processors, but is being introduced in the Snapdragon 810 and 425 processors.
The leak goes on to tell more about the phone. 16 mega-pixel rear camera, 13 mega-pixel front camera is what the Mi 5 will reportedly have along with a 2K resolution through the 5.2-inch panel. A 3000mAh battery is mentioned also, but that isn’t something you would be surprised about perhaps.
Gizchina News of the week
The Mi 5 Plus on the other hand is expected to have a 5.7-inch 2K screen, Snapdragon 820 processor, 23 mega-pixel rear camera and 12 mega-pixel front facing camera. The battery on this one is rumoured to be a 3500mAh cell, which according to the leak charges up to 100% in just 50 minutes. That would mean that if it’s a usual 3.7V battery, the charger outputs a 5250mA current (considering 80% efficiency), which I don’t think is something the tech world is ready for yet.
Both devices will, as expected, feature a new version of MIUI — MIUI 7 — with some added features.

Taken with a pinch of salt … hehe.
mi 5 plus <3 !
but i guess its gonna cost in the upwards of $500 , so </3 :/
I’ll pass the one with SD810 and the plus for being too big. i guess it’s time to move to another brand.
I never had a chance to test a Xiaomi phone but I feel that I will go for something else. I was ready to buy the Mi4i but MIUI6 is too heavy for the phone causing heating issues. I will probably wait a bit to see if there are improvements in terms of software updates but I am not sure that something will change.
Xiaomi phones are good. the Mediatek ones were good, the Qualcomm and Leadcore too.
The MI4i has a great build quality.
all the issues are related to the SoC.
There’s nothing that Xiaomi can do with it. this year 64 bit Qualcomm SoCs have been a disgrace.
Xiaomi has been like this for a long time… however their flagships are god tier and they keep improving, for example the mi note etc… so if you’re looking for low range phones, xiaomi is not a good option however, flagships are a different dimension. I think this SD 810 would be the SD810 rev 3, the one being used in OPO which apparently fixes heating issues. They probably underclocked it but all the better, the perfect package of battery consumption and performance, and plentiful roms should offer faster experiences than the stock miUi. personally not a fan of miui ever, which is why I skipped on the redmi series and now im getting a lenovo a7000. 1S is very laggy in my opinion as I came from a near snappy Blackberry 9700 and have been testing android for a long time. Things kinda changed around Redmi 2 but battery problem.
i come from a MI4 so I’ll be looking for the flagship but no nearly 6″ phablet, it’s not for me.
the OP2 is not out yet so we can’t really speak about it.
obviously the company will say that the SoC runs smoothly, but it’s clear that the SD810 was a miscarriage.
i was looking forward for the SD820 (only after reviews) but I’m not ready for that kind of size.
don’t get me wrong, im an happy Xiaomi owner, but if this is what they are planning to do then I’ll look elsewhere: the Chinese market is loaded with good alternatives.
