OnePlus' first non-'flagship killer' phone, i.e., the
OnePlus X is set to go
invite free in India.
OnePlus phones launch with a peculiar-yet-successful
invite model, which requires buyers to have 'invites' in order to purchase phones.
However, after a certain period on the market,
OnePlus usually make their phones
invite free. The OnePlus One and the OnePlus 2 have received similar treatment prior to the
OnePlus X.
Coming back to the announcement, according to
OnePlus the X will go
invite-free starting midnight tonight, i.e., at 00:00 hours, February 5th in India tonight.
What
OnePlus have to say about this:
The invite system has been crucial to letting us scale our operations and has given our fans a unique way to share our brand story with the people in their lives. It has been our constant endeavour to enhance the smartphone experience for all of you in taking risks by pushing ourselves and showing real improvements. That’s why we’re making the OnePlus X invite-free, forever, for a more cheerful buying experience.
