IUNI planning to launch a big screen phone

Gionee spin off brand IUNI are planning to launch a big screen phone according to marketing material.

IUNI were once a promising brand with some rather cool phones like the U2 with amazing metal body and stunning rear camera, and the U3 which packed in a powerful chipset, large battery and 2K display for a low 1999 Yuan price point.

The company has gone under some change since those days with the old management leaving and a new team coming in, but is looks like those cities with Gionee are still there.

Gizchina News of the week

Apparently the new big screen device from IUNI could be just a rebadged Gionee M5 Plus with 5020mAh battery, 3GB RAM, 64GB internal memory, and 1.3Ghz octacore processor.

Pricing could be around 1499 Yuan says Chinese media which is a disappointment when you think this will be a midge MT6753 phone were as the U3 was a Snapdragon power house for only slightly more.

I got all excited by the title until I read the article. How many rebrands are we gonna get of Gionee phones.

I am with Rob I was excited until I read “rebadged Gionee M”. IUNI always did their own thing apart from Gionee, last thing we need is another Gionee rebrand. Blu and Allview (among others) do enough of that.

This brand used to have quite a potential to be great! I don’t know what happened but it seems now it’s only a shadow of its former self. The u2 and u3 were very exciting back in the day. Well, bad management can only lead you so far.

come on, why is everyone so hyped with these big screens? Look in a mirror holding such a big device and start to call someone that looks so stupid, I want a maximum 4.7 inch device. Is it to much I am asking near these bunches of big phones???

The U3 had one of the best designs imo, why should they rename an existing Gionee’s model…? Did they run out of ideas?

I have had the Iuni N1 for a few months now and love it, build quality is amazing and I really like the camera and OS. It’s not the best specs for the price but its quick enough for me and I definitely prefer having a smaller, sleeker phone to the U3 which was just too big and bulky for me. So not really interested in another bigger phone from Iuni, just want to show some love for the brand since no-one else does 🙂
