Vernee officially annouced the Vernee Apollo Lite, world’s cheapest X20 4GB RAM smartphone!

Chinese phone maker Vernee is on the roll, after starting the full fledged campaign with Thor and teasing us with specs of the stacked Apollo model comes official announcement of the Vernee Apollo Lite.

Lite version usually means some watered down specs, but Apollo Lite will retain the Helio X20 chipset and main change is limited to only FHD 5.5-inch display, 4 GB RAM,32 GB of storage, only 16 Mpix back shooter of so far unknown origin a 5 Mpix front shooter.

Gizchina News of the week

Just as the more polished brother the Apollo Lite comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, USB-C connector and dual SIM or SIM +cmicroSD card setup. So the dual SIM/extra storage flexibility choice is not lost here either.

According to Vernee the Apollo Lite should hit the market somewhere in May and the price tag is set at very reasonable 199$. We already have one Apollo Lite prototype pic, which can be found somewhere around here.

i wanna give it a shit, the Apollo Lite looks great with that affordable price, no any other X20 phones announced can reach i think personally.

You sure you wanna give it THAT? But seriously, even with good reviews the after sales care, updates and above all the consistent quality of the phones over time is a black box with a new name. It may be cheap but it may also be dead after a month with no place to put it but in the garbage.

This really isn’t a good time for a new brand to launch a flagship. Too many of the top brands are coming out in the next few months or were just released from Huawei, Xiaomi, Meizu, Oppo, Nubia, OnePlus etc. Gonna be interesting to see how well they do.

according to how Vernee managed the Thor presale, i think they would launch the Vernee Apollo Lite at a lower price than $199.99 in presale stage..

This one is exactly what I am looking for, 4G RAM, 16MP rear camera and so on, can’t wait to get one.

Battery is not important to you? The battery being weak is the thing that’s forcing me selling my current phone. Probably Apollo Lite won’t be a superstar when it comes to battery life.

near perfrect phone.. I’m kinda bummed this phone doesn’t have NFC or IR. It has a proximity sensor, fm radio, wifi ac .. and at that price it’s just hard to believe.

I wouldnt even want the nfc so much except to play with programming. 🙂

    • Chris Shen
      April 7, 2016

The price if real is really attractive. But I don’t think NFC is quite necessary due to the fact that mobile payment is not so popular in some countries.

      • Roberto Tomás
        April 7, 2016

Like I said I am interested in it as a programmer. I believe NFC is useful for phone-to-phone communication, like if two people want to share data for a common app.

$199 is for china market price and only if you got lucky to get stock DIRECTLY FROM MANUFACTURER.

Even if you buy from those re-seller or shop in china, you will not get this $199 price.

As for us international buyer, we have to wait until those china online re-seller get their hand on the stocks.

Based on past experience i think normally for new gadget releases they will increase their selling prices for another 40-60%. Then after 3-6 months then they will reduce their price to a more reasonable selling price (increase 15-20 % from original price)

    • Tonyle
      April 6, 2016

i don’t think so, never heard that Vernee gonna launch their phones in China. but compared with VIVO or Oppo phones, you maybe right.
Vernee official FB posted the $199.99 price, i think they are serious 🙂 haha

Come on…$200 is impossible for a X20/4gb phone! I’m saying this for N time: The retail price of the units for worldwide shipping will be MORE.

very curious that when would they launch the 2 models exactly..

It seems that these 2 models will come into the market in May. Don’t know which day exactly.

There is still no proper review of a phone with the X20 and frankly that worries me.
I am not buying a device without being sure the SoC does not have any major downsides.

    • Nilzie
      April 9, 2016

There is no x20 phone on the market yet. Thus there cannot be any review. Any review youve seen is fake. There are lot of sites posting fake reviews on unreleased product where they dont even have the phone at hand. xiaomitoday.com is a good example. In their reviews they even go as low as using camera sample photos of other phones.

I think the doogee f7 pro has a one up on this phone and that’s the 2k display for the same price! Really looking forward to that beast. However if this phone has a gyroscope then I’ll rather get this instead.

    • Tonyle
      April 7, 2016

i don’t think DOOGEE F7 Pro will set the price tag at $199.99, do you belive it ?

      • Qasim Ala
        April 8, 2016

Their official website has that price. That’s why I’m so crazy about it. Doogee really do have competitive pricing. I have the ht7 for $59.99 and for a budget phone, it ticks all the right boxes. Keyword: “for a budget phone”.

      April 7, 2016

I saw on a website, can’t remember exactly, sold at this price. As for the Vernee Lite, first I am looking forward to reviews on all of their phones, all of them look great for the bucks.

      April 7, 2016

yeah 2k display which means shitty battery life no thanks I will take the Fhd, I don’t need a resolution made for very big tv set on my 5’5 smartphone

      • Mr.Flying Zoom3rz
        April 8, 2016

I’m with you! Moreover that no details on the battery which means that they don’t care much for it. I expect a regular 3000mah only battery.

    • Muhammad Yasir
      April 7, 2016

      Doogee f7 DOES NOT have 2k !
      they LIED !

        April 8, 2016

Actually do his own website says that the Pro model is available in 2K and the normal version or you can call it the Lite version is just FHD. The Pro version featuring 4 gigabytes of RAM and 32 gigabytes from S4 199 US dollars. And the Lite version is available for 179 US Dollars featuring a FHD screen and 3 gigabytes of RAM. Both have the Helio x20 and if I’m not mistaken, both have the 21 MP shooter. The pro version also has a 13 MP front shooter and an led in front! I know all of this because I want this to be my next phone so I’m following it closely.

        • Muhammad Yasir
          April 8, 2016

lol Qasim , you know they lyin’ !
          180$ for a FHD and 3gb with x20 , its IMPOSSIBRU unless they robbed a MTK foundry :p !

also , how much did u say was the PRO version for ? 4,199 dollars ?!

          • Qasim Ala
            April 8, 2016

Lol. I meant USD 1999. And I believe Andy met with the doogee team at MWC. He also posted some pics of a dummy model but confirmed the specs. Maybe doogee will show the world that premium doesn’t have to come at a price! Let’s all hope I’m right.

            • Muhammad Yasir
              April 8, 2016

              199.9*

          • Mr.Flying Zoom3rz
            April 8, 2016

Agree, that’s why I also think that Vernee Apollo Lite will actually retail for more than $270.

              April 9, 2016

i believe the Apollo lite will be priced at on;y $199.99, otehrwise they would not post this announcement on their official FB and website, that’s stupid to lie people and keep the evidence.

    • Nilzie
      April 9, 2016

Lets talk when the phone is out. IT was supposed to come out last month. I consider the Doogee f7 vaporware until proven otherwise. My guess is that it will come out with helio p10. Force touch? 2k screen? Forget all about it. Dont beleive the hype.

    • Roberto Tomás
      April 9, 2016

well, to be honest, it is. I think in 2016 the dividing line is squarely on P10 — below that and you are clearly in the bargain bin, not the mid range. Even with a P10, the performance is so low that it qualifies as sub-mid-range.

The mid range is going all the way up to the top for the CPUs this year — there are at least one if not several snapdragon 820s coming this year at less than $400

      • Mr.Flying Zoom3rz
        April 9, 2016

Actually MT6752 is quite on par with the P10 and only a bit slower than X10.

        • Roberto Tomás
          April 9, 2016

well that is interesting . but even the P10 is basically sub-par if you ask me. I basically said that.

          • Mr.Flying Zoom3rz
            April 9, 2016

Well yeah, I’ll call it midrange, but ok.

  16. Mr.Flying Zoom3rz

Sure it’s 200 bucks but in China only. Expect to order it worldwide for not less than $269

Actually vernee managed to sell their Thor on reseller websites for the purported price. So it’s highly possible that the appollo manages to do the same.

      • Mr.Flying Zoom3rz
        April 8, 2016

Man if this phone retails at $200 this is a steal. 4Gb+ Helio X20 wow. I can take the weak battery given the amazing price tag.

  17. Nilzie
    April 9, 2016

Fun fact: Vernee is owned by the same group that owns Elephone, New-Bund Shenzhen.

Rumor has it that Vernee Thor is the continuation of the cancelled Elepehone Ivory.

for $100 more you can get a samsung galaxy s6. the 4g is superior if you live in the usa, and the amoled. the processor is almost as powerful, and the software is probably better (especially the camera) but overall .. but I don’t know that it is worth the extra $100.

    • Cuerex

you underestimate igzo. they also have the screen clocked at 120hz where as literally all other devices only have 60hz
