Mi Max 3 to sport a huge 5,500 mAh battery, bezel-less 7-inch screen

mi max 3

With thin bezels being the in thing this year, we can’t help but think what will happen to the real big screen phablets? Well, they’ll probably get even larger. Handsets like the Mi Max 2 carved out a niche for themselves in a market that preferred 5.5-inch screens in 2016. But thin bezels are now paving the way for even bigger 6-inch displays in slim bodies. Xiaomi has yet released just 2 thin bezel mid-rangers this year, the Redmi 5/ 5 Plus. In 2018, the trend will continue and the Mi Max 3 might be the next handset that will be starved of all bezels.

A new report floating in the Chinese blogosphere is claiming that Xiaomi will release a huge 7-inch Mi Max 3. Further, the report states that an 18:9 aspect ratio will accompany the screen and the Mi Max 3 will shed a lot of bezel mass. Hence, it will integrate the big display without expanding the body.

Gizchina News of the week

Another interesting snippet regarding the processor was shared as well. The source believes the Mi Max 3 will have 2 variants both sporting different processors. It is being claimed that the premium variant will feature a more potent Snapdragon 660 SoC while the standard variant will sport a Snapdragon 630 SoC. To top it up, a dual camera setup is also being speculated for the phablet.

With big screens come big batteries. Hence, the Mi Max 3 is alleged to sport a giant 5,500 mAh battery truly making it a battery monster. Also, the battery will be Quick Charge 3.0 compliant as well as be able to reverse charge.

There are some images of the phone as well although it is unlikely to be the real thing. The Mi Max series usually launch mid-year. So, there’s quite some time to go before we see something concrete.

Well because 7″ 18:9 is actually smaller then 6.45″ 16:9& because it packs biggest battery in the series.

Why have two different processors? A SD636, plus 4/64GB or 6/128GB would be a perfect replacement for an ageing SD625.

Naa… Not everyone wants a monstrous 7 inch phone and most people can’t cope. Someone like me can’t even cope with 5 inch, i prefer 6.xx inch upward

I think it will keep a 6.4″ panel, but with the new 18:9 aspect ratio. 7″ Would be even clumsier than the current 6.4″ Mi Max 2. I don’t believe the full bezelless thing, they will keep that for a special phone.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has also shrunken down, I think a 18:9 ratio 6.4″ panel is the sweet spot for measurements. Keep that 5000 mAh battery or increase it, add a Snapdragon 636 SoC and I’m happy.

No, just a MUCH better camera sensor. Then the phone is (near) perfect. I’d like IP56 and a DAC/Smart amp to round it out.
