VIVO is set to introduce the World first Smartphone with in-display fingerprint Technology, beating its Samsung and Apple rival to the in-display fingerprint smartphone.

The device is due for mass production and should be officially announced in “early 2018”. Aside from the release date, Vivo has actually not disclosed anything about the smartphone apart from the in-display fingerprint sensor which will offer the same level of security as the scanner seen on the current crop of flagship devices from various OEM.

As for the under-display fingerprint reader,  the sensor should sit between the OLED screen and the mainboard. The sensor shine light on a user’s finger when it makes contact with the screen which then detects the user’s fingerprint area, the fingerprint sensor identifies the fingerprint through the OLED screen and unlocks the phone if it matches the data stored on the phone.

Doogee is also believed to be working on Smartphone (Dogee V) with the same in-display fingerprint scanner. The device is rumored to feature an iPhone X like 6.2 inch display with a notch on the top.
