The Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) have only just started hitting the retail stores, but Samsung is already giving the duo the needed attention when it comes to timely updates. The Plus sized Galaxy A8 (2018) received the January security update a few days back even while it was yet to hit the retail shelves and no, the base Galaxy A8 (2018) is reportedly receiving a similar update.
The January 2018 update which is currently being rolled out to the Galaxy A8 (2018) units in the UAE bumps up the Galaxy A8 (2018) software to firmware version A530FXXU1ARA3, and in addition to the new security patches, it also brings fixes for 13 vulnerabilities discovered in Samsung’s software, along with five critical vulnerabilities that affect Android in general.
Do note that there are reports from users getting the update, the update might take a while before it reaches your unit of the Galaxy A8 (2018).So if you don’t get the update right away, be patient, but you can always check for availability of the update via your device’s Settings menu, About Device, and then finally tapping on System Updates.
