Android apps come to the Acer Chromebook 15 CB-571

Google’s Chrome OS remains an OS for niche products for many companies, though Acer is more active with the OS than most. With more than two dozen Chrome OS devices from Chromebooks and Chrome Boxes, the company seems to pushing ahead with the OS.

This makes surprising to learn that Acer’s most popular Chromebook, the Acer Chromebook 15 CB-571, has only now received Android apps. The co-leader of the largest Google+ Chromebook community, Brent Sullivan shared Wednesday that a Chrome OS update to Version 64.0.3282.167 brought the Play Store to the Acer CB-571.

The addition of the Play Store to the Acer Chromebook 15 is one that is long overdue but it’s a good sign that the update should be coming down the pipeline for more devices in the near future. Devices like these are often abandoned by manufacturers, so it’s at least nice to see CB-571 continue to get support.
