Xiaomi Mi 7 is still in the works and there are numerous speculations regarding this smartphone. However, the most interesting piece of information on the Mi 7 is whether or not it will come with an on-screen fingerprint sensor. So far, only vivo and Huawei have been able to use this feature but other manufacturers are still trying to perfect the feature. Recall that the Mi 7 was rumored to launch alongside or even before the Mi MIX 2s but this didn’t happen probably because the company is trying to include an on-screen fingerprint sensor. Most recently, an MIUI source code hints at an on-screen fingerprint reader on a Xiaomi phone.
Now, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun, may have just given a hint on this feature. Today, a discussion on the Mi MIX 2s eschewed on Weibo and a user loosely mentioned that the Mi 7 will come with an on-screen fingerprint sensor. This was confirmed by Lei Jun in his reply. However, this discussion cannot be taken seriously because the response seems a bit open-ended. Nevertheless, the evidence supporting the Mi 7 with an on-screen fingerprint sensor is increasing daily. At this time, it is certain that Xiaomi is working on an on-screen fingerprint smartphone but it is not certain if the Xiaomi Mi 7 will launch this feature.
