One of the stars of MWC 2018 was the Nokia 8 Sirocco. This is a true flagship with a number of impressive features, but it can’t compete with the top-notch models like the Galaxy S9 due to its previous-gen chip, the Snapdragon 835. However, the rest of features can be found only on a few models available on the market. This handset went on sale on April 3. Today HMD announced it is re-opened for sale at a price tag of 4699 yuan ($746).
Many think this is overpriced. But HMD has announced its plans on returning to the top 5 in 3-5 years. Thus, the company has an exact plan and follows it. And the price policy is included in it as well. On the other hand, the Nokia 8 Sirocco sports many attractive features that make its price quite logical.
When we got our hands on it at the MWC 2018, we saw the Nokia 8 Sirocco uses a stylish design. It uses a double-3D curved glass body that counts for 95% of the whole housing. It is a piece of crystal. The frame is made of a high-strength stainless steel, which is 2.5 times higher than the 6000 series aluminum alloy hardness. The thickness is only 7.5mm.
In terms of configuration, it sports a 5.5-inch 2K OLED curved screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip based on a 10nm process node, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of UFS2.1 storage, 3260mAh battery, and runs on Android O. These specs are quite impressive, but it come with strong photography capabilities as well. The Nokia 8 Sirocco features a dual-camera on the back with a 12MP wide-angle sensor and a 13MP telephoto Zeiss certified lens. This camera has a 1.4-micron pixel area, f/1.7 aperture, dual-view mode, professional camera features, and support for 2x optical zoom and portrait bokeh effect. At last, the phone also integrates two high-assurance microphones providing up to 24-bit and 132-dB high-dynamic-range recording technology. The latter is comparable to the professional audio studio.
