At the conference, where the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S was out, the manufacturer also came with a couple of attractive products including the Xiaomi Mi AI Mini Speaker and the first Xiaomi Gaming Laptop. All three models won geeks’ hearts immediately. But the gaming notebook of the company was in the spotlight due to its strong hardware and relatively low price tag. Today, the manufacturer officially announced this laptop’s top variant will go on pre-order at Xiaomi Mi Home on April 13 at a price tag of 8999 yuan ($1435).
The Xiaomi Gaming Laptop is considered to be one of the thinnest products in the niche. It comes with an all-metal housing at a thickness of 20.9mm only. However, it weighs 2.7kg. The company continues using a logo-less design. Like the rest of Xiaomi notebooks released recently, this model comes in a dark gray color option. The keyboard is backlit. It consists of four parts. There are also 5 programmable gaming keys.
This laptop sports a 15.6-inch screen with ultra-narrow bezels. It has a wide 72% NTSC color gamut and 178-degree wide viewing angle. However, if you need something larger and better you can connect it to two other 4K external monitors for an ultimate gaming experience. The Xiaomi Gaming Laptop comes with 2x3W speakers supporting Dolby Panorama Sound.
The selling point of the Xiaomi Gaming Laptop is the latest (the 8th generation) an Intel’s 7th generation Core i5/i7 processor paired with a GeForce GTX1050Ti/GTX1060 graphics, 8GB/16GB DDR4 RAM, and 256GB SSD + 1TB mechanical hard drive support. The notebook has 4 USB 3.0, one USB Type-C, a Gigabit Ethernet, and an HDMI interfaces.
That’s not a secret, any gaming laptop should come with a good cooling system. All laptop makers invest too much in inventing new technologies. So Xiaomi does as well. The heat dissipation area increased by 50%, while thanks to the stainless steel used in the grid it provides a 46% larger opening rate. There is also a 3 + 2 large diameter bold heat pipe that increases the thermal conductivity by 25%, while the metal ultra-thin turbine blades help the laptop to reach a maximum speed increased by 20%. You can also use the special TORNADO key to kick in ultra-fast cooling.
The highest variant comes with i7+16GB+GTX1060 hardware and it costs 8999 yuan ($1432). By the way, the lowest version with i5+GTX1050 Ti hardware costs 5999 yuan ($955).
