After announcing the Mi Mix 2s and the Mi 6X, the Chinese company – Xiaomi is now gearing up to launch the Xiaomi Redmi S2 under its new Redmi S series. The device like it is typical of most upcoming smartphones has been the subject of a number of reports and leaks lately, and while we are just a few hours from the scheduled unveiling of the device, the phone has now been listed on the website of the popular online retail store – Aliexpress, complete with photos, features, specs and pricing details.
Corroborating previous leaks and enders, listing reveals the upcoming Redmi S2 will be encased in an all-metal chassis measuring 160.73 x 77.26 x 8.1mm with the iPhone-like bent antenna lines on top and an iPhone X-like vertical dual camera setup and a fingerprint sensor at the rear. The listing also re-affirm previous claims that suggest the device in line with recent trends would come with reduced bezels on its sides supporting an unusual aspect ratio of 18:9.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 according to the Aliexpress specs sheet will come fitted with a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and will be powered by an Octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB using microSD card.
For optics, the device will make use a 12MP+5MP AI rear camera, while a 16MP camera is placed on the front. The latter supports AI portrait, AI beauty and face unlock. As you see, this is one of the early phones, in which the portrait mode is based on AI. The artificial intelligence calculation engine makes the edge recognition more accurate and the background is blurred way better. The main enhancement in the AI beauty option is the understanding of girls’ makeup and protecting the lip makeup and eye detail colors.
It is expected to come packed with a 3,080mAh battery, while it will run Android Oreo out of the box.
According to the online retailer, the Redmi S2 retail price is pegged between $159 and $187 and appears not immediately available for shipping.
