The Samsung Galaxy A9 Star and A9 Star has made an appearance shortly after the Galaxy S Light Luxury was launched. Named SM-G8850, the smartphone is alleged to be a part of the Galaxy A9 Star series.
The alleged A9 Star has a design similar to the A series of smartphones. It A9 Star sports a boxy design with a full screen display. The glass back houses the vertically aligned dual cameras and the square shaped fingerprint scanner which has rounded edges leading to a more harmonic look with the design. The bottom of the frame houses the USB Type-C charging port flanked by the speaker grill on the right and the 3.5mm headphone jack on the left. It’s nice of Samsung to not have let go of the headphone jack.
According to TENAA, the A9 Star aka SM-G8850 will sport a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2220p resolution. It roughly has the same dimensions as the S9+ and is powered by a 3700mAh battery. The dual camera setup on the back comprises of 12MP and 5MP sensors while the front camera is a 24MP snapper. The A9 Star instead Android 8.0 Oreo supported by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The image shows two color variants although there might be more that Samsung might release after the initial launch.
A video that had leaked earlier corroborates with the leaked images. The Galaxy S Lite Luxury was the toned down version of the the S8, so there might be a chance that this is a toned down version of the Galaxy S9. Samsung has not not reed any plan detailing the existence of an A9 Star smartphone. It might be a limited edition version for select markets. Chances are high that it might sport a significantly weaker chipset.
