Samsung could make one of its most unusual flagship features available on more phones next year. A new report suggests the upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro will get Privacy Display, which debuted on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The move would give buyers a way to protect their screen from people looking over their shoulder without buying Samsung's most expensive phone. However, the feature still has some limits that are worth keeping in mind.

Privacy Display may reach the Galaxy S27 Pro

According to SamMobile, Samsung plans to use an upgraded version of Privacy Display on the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra. The report does not cite a source, so we should treat this information as a rumor for now.
Privacy Display uses special pixels built into the screen to limit viewing angles. When you turn it on, people sitting beside you should find it harder to read your messages or see what you are doing.
Samsung may also improve the feature with a new option that hides only part of the screen. This could let you protect sensitive information while keeping the rest of the display clear.

A smaller flagship with fewer compromises

The Galaxy S27 Pro is rumored to be a more compact alternative to the Ultra. It may feature a 6.4-inch display, compared with the Ultra's expected 6.9-inch panel.
Both phones could share the same cameras, while the Pro may have a smaller 5,200mAh battery. The Ultra is rumored to pack a 5,700mAh cell and keep its S Pen support.
If these details prove accurate, the Pro could offer many of the Ultra's key features in a smaller body. Privacy Display would make that package even more appealing.

My take: A useful feature, but not a must-have

I like the idea of bringing Privacy Display to a smaller and potentially cheaper phone. It is a clever use of screen technology, especially for people who often check private messages or work documents in public.
Still, I would not buy a phone based on this feature alone. It can make the screen harder to read from the side, but it does not guarantee privacy. Samsung will need to improve both its viewing angles and image quality before Privacy Display becomes a real selling point.
The Galaxy S27 series is expected to launch in early 2027. Until Samsung confirms the details, we should treat these reports with caution.
