Redmi may be preparing a major display upgrade for its next performance phone. A new leak suggests the Redmi Turbo 6 Max could feature a 7-inch 2K screen with a refresh rate of up to 185Hz.
The information comes from tipster Digital Chat Station, who also points to ultra-thin bezels and premium display technology. If these details prove accurate, the Turbo 6 Max could offer one of the most impressive screens in its price segment.

A bigger, sharper and faster display
The rumored panel measures around 7 inches and uses a flat design. It is also said to support the BT.2020 color gamut and feature a high-brightness, low-power display substrate.
The most interesting detail is the reported 185Hz refresh rate. That would be a major jump from the 120Hz panel on the current Redmi Turbo 5 Max. A higher refresh rate could make scrolling and supported games feel smoother, although the difference will depend on how well the software and apps use it.

The screen may also use LIPO packaging, a technology that helps reduce bezels. The leak points to borders measuring around 1mm on all four sides, giving the phone a more balanced look.

What else do we know?
Earlier leaks suggest the Redmi Turbo 6 Max could use MediaTek's Dimensity 9500s chipset and pack a battery larger than 10,000mAh.
Other rumored features include a metal frame, IP68 and IP69 protection, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the display. Camera details and charging speeds remain unknown.
For comparison, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max launched with a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 9,000mAh battery and 100W wired charging.
The new model could launch in China around January 2027. It may also reach global markets as the POCO X9 Pro Max, though neither the phone nor its international name has been confirmed.
My take: A screen this fast needs more than impressive numbers
I like the idea of a large, sharp display with almost invisible bezels. A 185Hz refresh rate sounds impressive, but I am more interested in how Redmi balances brightness, battery life and performance.
The Turbo 5 Max already offers a strong combination of battery capacity and charging speed. If Redmi can improve the screen without sacrificing those strengths, the Turbo 6 Max could be a very compelling upgrade.
For now, though, these are leaked specifications, not confirmed features. We will have to wait for Redmi to reveal the phone officially.
