Samsung Gear S4 to be renamed Galaxy Watch, come with Bixby

Samsung’s flagship smartwatch line comes with the Gear moniker since at least three generations. Now, if a trademark filing from Samsung is to be believed, that moniker will change to Galaxy and the next smartwatch that we currently know as the Gear S4 will be called “Galaxy Watch”. The “Galaxy Watch” trademark was noticed in South Korea.

This does fall in place with most of Samsung’s other flagship lines that use the same moniker. Also, the text and styling of the font that is visible in the trademark indicate this is likely to happen in the upcoming months. That’s all the trademark shows but there’s no shortage of reports surrounding the Gear S4 or Galaxy Watch.

Gizchina News of the week

The latest one today coming from Sammobile suggests that Samsung will stuff the new smartwatch with Bixby. However, the report says that you won’t find a dedicated button for it on the watch, thankfully. Bixby will replace the S Voice assistant and will be at the user’s beck and call with just a voice command.

Sammobile’s report is sure that Bixby will be on board the Galaxy Watch and it will probably be the newer version of Bixby 2.0 that will debut with the Note 9.

Other rumours received earlier suggest Samsung would do away with Tizen OS to replace it with Wear OS, something which seems unlikely as Samsung is pushing its own OS where ever and whenever it has the chance. There will be a classic and a sports version and colour options on the watch will include Black, gold, and silver
