The tides are finally changing for the flagship smartphone market as the big chipmakers are about to deploy their latest 2nm CPUs. While Qualcomm is expected to launch its next Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series, MediaTek is coming soon with its Dimensity 9600 SoCs. Today, Vivo confirmed that it its upcoming Vivo X500 Pro series will choose MediaTek.

Vivo X500 Pro and Pro Max are coming with a 2nm MediaTek 9600 CPU

The release of the Vivo X500 series is drawing near as the brand continues to share more details about it. Today, the company detailed the chipset that will power the Vivo X500 Pro models. While it didn´t explicitly mention the Dimensity 9600, it's easy to guess this is the choice.

According to Vivo, the next Vivo X500 Pro and Vivo X500 Pro Max will come with a 2nm MediaTek Dimensity chipset. Well, there is no other candidate than the Dimensity 9600 - or Dimensity 9600 Pro- as MediaTek is also rumored to come with two variants.

Cutting Edge Technologies and Powerful AI 

Vivo and MediaTek have built a strong partnership in recent years, with the Chinese phone maker opting for the Taiwanese chips in their latest X-series flagships. MediaTek's upcoming SoC will use the next-gen ARM C2 cores and will be built on TSMC's second-generation 2nm N2P process. It also features an all-new GPU that can handle AI frame generation and upscaling technologies. It also boasts a powerful NPU for enhanced AI tasks.

Vivo also disclosed details about the cameras. The Pro models will come with a new imaging chip that supports 4K 120fps 10-bit Log recording, 60fps video autofocus tracking, 4K Dolby Portrait Video, one-tap AI video highlight generation, and hardware-level video super-resolution.
