ColorOS 16 August Update is Available - Full list of compatible devices

OPPO has started rolling out its August update for ColorOS 16, and this isn't one of those updates built around a single big feature. Instead, OPPO is fixing and improving several smaller parts of the OS. There are new Home Screen gestures, better Notes tools, smarter security and even a currency converter widget.

Some of these changes sound minor. I think a few will be more useful than another big AI feature.

Let's start with one of the simplest additions.

ColorOS 16 now lets you use a two-finger pinch-out gesture on the Home Screen to clear every app notification badge at once. Your actual notifications remain there, so you aren't deleting anything important. You are simply getting rid of all those little red dots.

Why wasn't this already an option? Good question.

OPPO is also adding new Currency Converter widgets in 2×2 and 4×2 sizes. They show real-time exchange rates directly on the Home Screen, which should be handy when traveling or shopping from another country.

The Notes app now lets you draw and write directly on images. You can highlight parts of a photo, add notes or mark something without opening another editing app first.

It's a small change, but that's exactly why I like it. Features that remove a few extra steps from something you already do are often more useful than the ones that look good during a launch event.

There's some AI here too. AI Remix Collage can use Smart Cutout to pull subjects from your photos and turn them into stickers, collages and mood boards. You can change outlines and move different layers around to get the look you want.

Phone Manager is also getting smarter. It can now detect strange app behavior, including malicious pop-ups, unusual power use and attempts to take control of the device. When something gets blocked, ColorOS can show a real-time warning.

You can also choose which Phone Manager tools appear on its main screen. Storage Cleanup has been reorganized into clearer categories, while hidden apps can now be moved into floating windows.

Nothing here will completely change how an OPPO phone feels. That's fine.

ColorOS 16 already brought the bigger visual and performance changes. An update like this should polish what is already there, and clearing every notification badge with one gesture may be the smallest new feature here, but it is probably the one I would use the most.
