The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro has been making the rounds more frequently than before. MOre information regarding the cameras set up on the two phones has been reported by a Chinese publication, citing supply chain sources.

Apparently, both the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will arrive with a triple camera setup. The Kirin 980 will be coupled with a Mali Graphics solution instead of the in-house graphics. The Huawei Mate 20 is codenamed Hima and bears model numbers HMA-AL00 and HMA-TL00 which have been certified in China. The Mate 20 Pro, on the other hand, is codenamed Laya.

Gizchina News of the week

According to the publication, the Mate 20 will sport a 12MP+20MP+8MP setup while the Mate 20 Pro will sport a beefier 40MP+20MP+8MP setup. And like previous models, the cameras will be Leica branded. Both the phones are expected to house Sony IMX300 and IMX600 sensors. The Mate 20’s third sensor will reportedly be a new type of CMOS telephoto lens.

The Kirin 980 is expected to power these two phones but with the Mali G72MP24. This might be due to the comparatively low performance of the in-house GPU as compared to Qualcomm Adreno. Huawei recently dabbled with software-based GPU Turbo but seems like they are changing their GPU altogether. A report from earlier today revealed the presence of a Mate 20 Lite. So the Mate 20 series might feature 3 phones in total. There’s no report on the date of launch but it might be a few months till we see the two smartphones.
