Xiaomi has shared more details about the SkyNomad N70, this time showing the colors that buyers will be able to choose from. The new SUV comes in six exterior colors and three cabin styles, with a very different look from Xiaomi's other cars.
The N70 is a large SUV, and Xiaomi seems to be putting more focus on space and comfort this time. It looks less sporty than the YU7, but that is clearly the point.

Six colors for the N70

Xiaomi will sell the SkyNomad N70 in six exterior colors. The choice includes Midnight Black, Glacier Silver, Pearl White, Forest Green, Desert Gold and Deep Ocean Blue.
The new images give us a much better look at the SUV. It has a tall body, a long roof and large windows, while the wheel arches give it a more rugged look. Flush door handles keep the sides clean.
I like the fact that Xiaomi hasn't tried to turn the N70 into a larger YU7. The two SUVs have very different jobs. The YU7 is low and sporty, while the N70 is built around space and family use.
Its size makes that clear. The N70 is expected to measure around 5.2 meters long, so this is a very large SUV. It should also offer three rows of seats, making it Xiaomi's most practical car yet.

Three cabin styles

There are three interior colors to choose from as well. Xiaomi has shown black, beige and a brown-style finish, giving buyers a choice between a darker cabin and two warmer looks.
The dashboard follows Xiaomi's usual clean design. A large screen sits in the center, while most of the car's features are controlled through the display. The wide center console also has cup holders, storage space and wireless phone charging.
The N70 should offer plenty of space in the second and third rows. Large seats and the tall roof make the cabin look much more open than the YU7.
For a car like this, I think that's more important than making everything look sporty. If you're buying a three-row SUV, you probably care more about rear-seat space and comfort than a low driving position.

This isn't a normal EV

The N70 also marks an important change for Xiaomi. The SU7 and YU7 are fully electric, but the SkyNomad N70 is expected to use an extended-range electric system.
The wheels are still powered by electric motors. However, the car also has a petrol engine that can charge the battery when needed. This gives drivers the feel of an electric car without having to depend on charging stations during longer trips.
It's easy to see why Xiaomi would choose this setup for the N70. A large family SUV will often be used for long trips, where stopping to charge can be less convenient. The petrol engine gives buyers another option when the battery starts getting low.
Full battery and range details haven't been confirmed yet, so we'll have to wait for Xiaomi to tell us more.

Xiaomi's biggest car yet

Xiaomi's car business is growing very quickly. The SU7 gave the company a sporty sedan, while the YU7 moved it into the SUV market. The SkyNomad N70 now adds something much larger and more focused on families.
We still don't know how much it will cost or when sales will begin. Xiaomi also hasn't shared the full list of specs yet.
But the new images tell us a lot about where the N70 fits. This isn't meant to be another sporty Xiaomi EV. It's a large, three-row SUV made for buyers who need more space, and I think giving it its own look was the right choice.
