MediaTek Confirms Dimensity 9600 Pro Launch Date With Focus on Gaming and AI

MediaTek has finally put a date on its next flagship chipset. The company has confirmed that it will unveil the Dimensity 9600 Pro on September 15, with the event starting at 2:30 PM in China.

That means the launch will take place at 2:30 AM in New York, 7:30 AM in London, 8:30 AM in Central Europe, 9:30 AM in Eastern Europe, and noon in India. So, depending on where you are, you'll have to get up pretty early to catch the announcement live.

The announcement came through MediaTek's official X account, and while the company is still keeping the technical details under wraps, it has already teased several of the areas where the new chip is expected to improve.

MediaTek is calling the new chipset a "pro chip", and the messaging around the launch is pretty clear. The company wants this to be more than just another performance upgrade.

MediaTek is highlighting "pro efficiency" and "pro imaging", with support for 4K video recording at 240fps for slow-motion footage. That's one of the more interesting details revealed so far, although we'll have to wait for the full announcement to see exactly what the image-processing hardware can do.

Gaming is getting plenty of attention too. The Dimensity 9600 Pro will bring AI-enhanced graphics, an upgraded HyperEngine gaming system, and improved ray tracing. There have also been reports of a standard Dimensity 9600 and a more powerful Dimensity 9600 Pro Max. MediaTek hasn't confirmed either of those yet, so for now, it's best to treat them as rumors.
