HMD Global sells a ton of Nokia-branded feature phones every year, even more than smartphones. Seeing how “intense” the demand for this kind of device is, the company may be planning a lot of new devices for a release.
The Nokia 8110 is one of the company’s recent releases, this feature phone is special due to the 4G capabilities it carries. Since it has proven a sucess for the Finnish company, the mobile device maker seems to be preparing a sucessor. In an interview for DNA India, Ajey Mehta, vice president and country head India, HMD Global, said:
“Our company is exploring the possibility of launching a 4G feature phone at affordable prices.”
Apparently, the feature phone segment is giving some nice results for HMD Global, and due to the fast growth in emerging markets the company is studying ways to expand its portfolio of devices. According to the Finnish maker, there is a huge demand for devices of this kind, and they will take advantage of this.
The Nokia 8110, known as “Banana Phone”, could see a sucessor pretty soon. Still there’s a long way from planning a device and actually releasing it, so let’s not take any conclusion for now. But who wouldn’t think that Nokia feature phones would still rock in 2018?
