Qualcomm mobile processors are the most used in the smartphone industry and every year the company announces a new chip that far surpasses the previous one.
While Samsung and Huawei have already introduced their new flagship processors, we are still waiting to meet the successor of the Snapdragon 845. Now a recent report suggests that Qualcomm could announce its new chip on December 4.
Qualcomm will hold an event at the Qualcomm Technology Summit and members of the Chinese press have received invitations with phrases such as “dare to live the first 5G mobile experience”. The 3-day event will be held in Hawaï.
As for the specifications of the Snapdragon 8150, it is expected to come with a design of three clusters of CPU cores, similar to the Kirin 980, and will be manufactured in a process of 7 nm.
There will be a powerful core at 2.84GHz, three medium cores at 2.4GHz, and finally four cores of efficiency at 1.78GHz. It is believed that the GPU will be the Adreno 640, which is 20% faster than the previous version.
The future SoC for high-end smartphones has made an appearance on AnTutu and it already promises very strong performance. The benchmarks shows a score of 362,292 points, while the Snapdragon 845 never crossed the 300,000 points.
It also surpasses the new Huawei SoC Kirin 980 which revolves around 315,000 points, and would compete with the scores of the Apple A12 Bionic (353,210 points).
