Sharp Aquos Zero with OLED display launches in Taiwan, hits the shelve in January

Following the footsteps of leading industry players like Samsung, LG and even Sony, Japan’s Sharp a few weeks back ventured into the OLED smartphone display market with the release of its first OLED display flagship smartphone – dubbed the Sharp Aquos Zero. While it wasn’t possible to tell if Sharp will be offering the device outside of its home market,  the Aquos Zero has today made it out of East Asian Island country.

At a launch event held today in Taiwan, Sharp has announced the availability details of the Aquos Zero smartphone in the country. Although a specific price tag hasn’t been disclosed, the company did announce that the device will hit the shelves in Taiwan later in January 2019.

Sharp claims the Aquos Zero is one of the lightest flagship smartphones around, all thanks to the rear carbon fiber finish, and the magnesium alloy side frame which makes it even more durable and wear resistant. Measuring 154 x 73 x 8.8 mm, the Sharp Aquos Zero parades a curved 6.2-inch 1440×2992 display with support for the DCI-P3 color space and Dolby Vision, with a huge display notch, and a somewhat substantial chin at the bottom.

Under the hood, the device houses the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM, and 128GB storage capacity, while it is powered by a 3,130mAh with a special charging and heat dissipation technology.

It is one of the very first few devices to boot Android Pie out of the box, and on the camera front, the Aquos Zero comes fitted with a 22-megapixel rear CMOS wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera up front.
