Mi Mix 5G

With the global announcement of 5G and the intensification of companies’ discourse in favor of new connectivity standard, we are starting to see devices with 5G being released and going on sale around the world. Today, the Chinese giant, Xiaomi made a new announcement that will benefit its customers across Europe that are interested in their Mi Mix 3 5G.

Today’s announcement comes from the head of Xiaomi in Western EU, Wen Ou via a post on Twitter. According to the post, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G will be available for purchase starting on this Thursday, May 23 for two new European markets: Italy and Spain. The flagship will be the first 5G smartphone to become available for the two countries.

The 5G variant of Xiaomi’s bezel-less flagship was unveiled during the company’s MWC event back in February. While customers in Spain will be able to pay the originally announced price of €599 (~$668), however, customers in Italy will end up paying a bit more. Xiaomi’s website has the 5G handset listed for €699 (~$779). Spanish Vodafone already announced the rollout of 5G during summer while Italy will get its 5G coverage from TIM and Vodafone in July.

Xiaomi’s 5G variant of the bezel-less flagship is pretty similar to the standard Mi Mix 3, at least externally. When it comes to the internals, the 5G variant is equipped with an updated Snapdragon 855 up from Mi Mix 3 and its SD845. Also, while the standard unit comes with a 3,200mAh battery the 5G one is equipped with a larger 3,800mAh battery. The handset features a 6.39-inch notchless display that slides down to reveal dual front-facing cameras, there’s a main sensor with 24MP plus a secondary 2MP depth sensor. The device doesn’t come with an in-display fingerprint scanner, instead, it makes use of the classical rear mounted one. Last, but not least it comes with 10GB of RAM and at least 64GB of internal storage.
